A lovely crown created in the tradition of paper crowns for make believe, but this one isn't made of paper so it will last! Perfectly befitting your mermaid or water nymph. Meticulously hand stitched of batik print cotton fabric. Embellished with blue silk ribbons that probably flew away in the breeze from a lovely maidens hair on her voyage, yarn "sea weed" and a chenille sea blossom with a pearl center. One of a kind, fits most standard blythe dolls. Might be too tight if your girl has extra super thick hair. Available on my website at www.adorablemadness.com

I have spent my life loving bears and other stuffed animals. I have devoted almost 40 years of my life to their creation. But when I was little I didn't really have much interest in dolls. I had a couple, but only one I really liked. Her name was Ruthie. Over the years dolls still never held much appeal. But then a couple years ago I began seeing Blythe dolls showing up in in photos of bears, like Goldilocks looking for porridge with their chibi style heads and large luminous eyes.
At first I wasn't sure how I felt about them. But after a while I was smitten. I bought my first doll and it was all down hill from there. I have bought many friends, clothes and of course made pets for these dolls.
Through the mutual love and adoration of these dolls I have made new friends. If you aren't familiar with Blythe dolls and the artists who customize them, check them out...they are true works of heart!

Renowned ornithologist Dr. Nigel Sylligus...world famous for discovering the Puce Close-Throated Warbler has spent the past few years in Papua New Guinea trying to catalogue new species of birds. Imagine his surprise when he discovered a new species of flying Bobber instead! He instantly named the rare creature the Berbere Papillon Bobber after his favorite Ethiopian spice. Berbere can be adopted on my website at Adorable Madness.

Every year around this time I start wishing I could go to the beach. Unfortunately I am roughly 1350 miles from the nearest ocean. So I have to make my own beach! I spent the last few days making Beachy Bobbers. Nantucket is blue with a red knob and feet and Newport has navy wave patterned knob and feet! They are available on my website at Adorable Madness.

Darling dotty bobbers are available on my website right this minute at Adorable Madness!
They are very nice little companions for you, your bears or dolls! They don't eat much...they do like salt water taffy. They only get into mischief once or twice a day and they are always sorry afterward!

Sometimes when we look at social media we see so many things that are amazing. As artists we sometimes feel that what we do isn't as creative or clever as what other artists are doing. How often have you looked at something and thought I wish I had thought of that...or maybe you thought I could never make anything like that. As my darling husband often reminds me, we are our own worst critics. I was thinking about all of this as I was walking Mozzie that afternoon under that bright blue sky filled with puffy white clouds you see in the photo. Sometimes I feel compelled to say things...I am never sure if it's because I need to remind myself or because someone else needs to hear it. Maybe it's both? Or maybe I just want the world to be the beautiful place I think it is, and I want to contribute to that once in a while! Either way, take it to heart! Don't be hard on yourself or your work...you are amazing! Believe it! ❣️

For as long as I can remember I have always loved Alice in Wonderland. Most of us have. In more recent history though, she has gained a following that other fairytale girls just dream of. It borderlines on reverence. I have often wondered why?
Dorothy had cute clothes lolita-esque clothes like Alice, and she even had a dog. Snow White could easily be made steampunk because of the dwarves working in a mine. Sleeping beauty and Cinderella were both also blonde. Belle went a little to the dark side with the Beast. Surely there had to be more to it than a Mad Hatter and a tea party right?
Two days ago I woke up, and as I was working on my new website layout it hit me. Alice was ordinary. She was just a girl, not a princess. Our girl Alice didn't need a prince to save her. She also didn't have a white knight complex and need to save everyone around her. She was minding her own business until the rabbit ran past, and her idle curiosity led her to fall into a whole lot of crazy trouble. We have all been there. She used her good heart and her wits to get herself out of it, and made friends along the way. She stayed true to who she was, good and bad...and came through it just fine. The same way we always hope to.
No wonder we identify with her and want in some small part to be like her. We all yearn for adventure and magic and to get through the crazy days just fine. We don't want to have to be a princess to do it either, or have someone ride in on a white horse and save us.
Alice was just an ordinary girl. And so am I...
